After about two years of planning and construction, we can finally say: we have come full circle. On 16 June 2023, Germany’s first artificial turf recycling facility was opened!

RECYCLING SOLUTIONS FOR ARTIFICIAL TURF.

As a German technology company, FormaTurf solves the challenges of the complete recycling of artificial turf pitches and sports surfaces.

We recycle all the components of an artificial turf system: we separate the materials with little effort and reuse them in the only high-tech recycling process of its kind. FormaTurf gives recycled materials a “second life”, processing them into useful new plastic products and individual customer solutions for the construction of sports pitches, as well as a wide variety of applications in the landscaping, construction and industrial sectors.

Transparency builds trust. That’s why all the steps in FormaTurf’s recycling process are fully traceable, transparent and seamless. Guided tours of the recycling plant can be arranged in line with the principle: “see and understand”.

SUSTAINABLE

To us, sustainable production means using resources sparingly. This starts with the selection of our energy provider, who supplies FormaTurf with green energy. We can assure our customers that every production process has been meticulously thought through to save energy and resources. Every artificial turf system is returned to the material cycle as a durable product in a variety of applications. That way, your sports flooring and artificial turf systems do not harm the environment – even after they reach the end of their life in a sports facility.

HOLISTIC

To us, holistic means waste-free. Artificial turf systems go through several steps in the recycling process. The recovered recyclables become new materials. Our recycling solution guarantees that no materials are lost from the material cycle or go unused. They are used for the construction of new sports facilities or other purposes.

FormaTurf is part of the Sport Group, a major, established provider of sports flooring systems. For many years, the group has been using the Green Technology approach to develop sustainable concepts for products with an improved ecological footprint, all of which are researched, developed, installed and maintained in-house, and now also recycled in-house by FormaTurf. FormaTurf closes the material cycle.

SEPARIERUNG

Mit geringem Aufwand und hochtechnologisch werden die Komponenten des Kunstrasensystem separiert, sofern erforderlich. Der Vorteil des FormaTurf Recyclingkonzepts ist jedoch ein deutlich geringerer Separierungsbedarf im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Methoden. Denn alle Baustoffe können bei uns recyclet werden.

Mit einer idealen Kombination aus herkömmlichen Recycling-Methoden und eigens entwickelten Verfahren des mechanischen sowie chemischen Recyclings formen wir aus allen Kunstrasenkomponenten neue Produkte.

Wir entwickeln und vertreiben kundenindividuelle sowie serienreife Produktlösungen aus recyceltem Kunststoff für Handel, Industrie und Kommunen. Kunstrasen wird als neues Produkt in den Bereichen des Sportstättenbau oder in anderen Branchen wiederverwendet.

After intensive research and weighing up all the advantages and disadvantages,
we at FormaTurf decided in favour of mechanical recycling.

Mechanical recycling

In the field of mechanical recycling, we are able to separate mixed materials, recycle them and reprocess them into new products. For us, recycling artificial turf means separating and recycling all the components of a complex artificial turf system (including the infill granules and sand).

For this reason, all steps in the FormaTurf recycling process are fully
and completely traceable by means of a QR code.
